Scenario Details

• Kim is a 40-year-old homeless woman presenting to the city hospital ED brought in by the police
• She was found wandering and harassing people in the street, and the police were alerted to her behavior
• When she arrived, she had remarkably disorganized speech, was irritable, and made some remarks about the Illuminati, although she was overall a poor historian
• There were no sources of collateral information, although smoking paraphernalia were found in her belongings
• After several days in the inpatient unit, the staff was able to obtain information on several previous hospitalizations for similar behavior and previous treatment with antipsychotic medication
